In the historic center of Taqah, surrounded by the old fortress and the famous Sheikh Al-Afif Mosque, stands our family home – Koofan Heritage Lodge – one of the oldest and most beautiful traditional houses in the Dhofar region.
For more than 150 years, these walls have carried the lives and memories of our ancestors. Merchants once lived and traded here, families found shelter within these rooms, and our community exchanged stories and good.
This house was once the home of Salim Koofan, whose honesty and generosity shaped our family’s legacy. Today, we continue the path our ancestors began, opening our doors as a heritage museum and guesthouse – inviting you to become part of our history.

The Koofan Heritage Lodge features 12 individually designed rooms, each with its own story and unique historical character. Spread across three levels of the house, our rooms reflects the original layout of this historic home. Every room carries the authentic spirit of Omani design, from high ceilings and handcarved wooden doors, and windows to thoughtfully perserved architectural details. Built from clay, natural stone, and local woods such as Mitan and Sagout, this traditional construction provides a natural climate: pleasantly cool in summer and warm in winter.
Each stay becomes an experience itself.
